iPhone-iPod Connector

In January 2009 I decided I wanted a way to hook up my iPhone or iPod to the touchscreen headunit. I had this cable lying around (Apple® Component A/V Cable) and decided to put it to use. Installation is pretty straight forward, take a look at the pictures.

I am able to charge my device. The head unit has a USB input. I plugged the cable's power into it and it gives me power. The head unit also acceptes video from the iPod or iPhone.

The cable supplied by Apple is white- not good enough. I ordered a black extension cable on eBay for around $5. I connected it and ran the black cable out of the dash. It looks a lot better than the white cable. I just keep my iPhone or iPod in the little tray below my ashtray. My headunit does not have full iPod controls like some others, so I need to keep it out, also in case a call comes in.

My situation is probably different than yours, because almost everyone has a different head unit.
