DVD Head Unit

In December 2009 we bought a Pyle PLDN70U 7-Inch Double-DIN Motorized TFT Touchscreen Receiver with DVD/VCD/CD/MP3/MP4/CD-R/USB/SD-MMC Card Slot/AM/FM unit from amazon.com
. We also had to get a C2R-CHY4 - PAC Radio Replacement Interface because I don't want to hack and mess with too much wiring. This prevents me from cutting the factory wiring.

We started by removing the bezel. It's held on with clips.

Undo the wiring to the back. There are connectors for the airbag/ESP/rear wiper, and the heater controls.

With those out, the bezel can come out. Remove the four screws that hold in the factory deck and remove the plugs from the back of it to pull it out. We have some extra wiring in there from a previous RCA output connector for our amp. Just ignore it.

Now that the bezel of off, remove all the little bolts that hold in the heater controls, airbag/ESP control, and then the vents can be popped out, they are held in by clips.

Before we got too involved with the bezel, we began our wiring. We just followed the directions from the deck and the interface and meshed it all together.

We were then able to sit the deck in the dash to check to see if everything works as it should. it does.

Now we got to work on the bezel. Unfortunatly, we have to fabricate our own because at this time, you cannot buy any factory navigation bezels for any reasonable price, unless you consider $175 plus shipping on eBay from something the dealership sells for $70 reasonable. I don't.
We cut it up using a jigsaw and a fine scroll blade. Measure twice, cut once!

Using QuikSteel plastic epoxy putty, we began to build the bezel up and "weld" it all together.

That one with the white epoxy hooks horrible. I should have bought black just so photos would look better! It reminds me of puffy clouds.
We bought a cheap double DIN bezel to use as our template because I know I could not get my edges as good as they need to be.

We made a mounting bracket for the deck to stay put in the dash out of brackets supplied with that kit we bought.

The setup has been test fitted several times...

With it all filled, sanded, prepped and test fit, we were ready for paint. We chose to use Rust-Oleum Multicolor Textured
, and the finished is called "Aged Iron".

Here are some close ups of how this finish looks. It has a bit of a rough texture and is PERFECT for hiding any blemishes. The factory bezel had a bit of a textured finish also.

Once all that was done, we realized something was missing. We bought this- a Scosche CR129B.
I felt there was something missing around the outside of the stereo. It came with it's own bezel but I wasn't happy with it. We made our opening a bit bigger and used this as our base. Also, we needed the fasteners on the sides so the bezel would snap in.

When it cured, it all went together, and installed.
